Easter Snack Mix

Easter is around the corner and today I'm going to share an easy snack mix with you.
This snack mix is perfect for Easter egg hunts, playdates or just for fun for the littles!

Snack mixes are always something fun to make for the holidays. I love all of the Easter themed candy and snacks that are out, they make putting these snack mixes together much more fun and festive. I have one very picky eater in my house and what I love about snack mixes is that chances are she'll find something she will eat in the mix.

Enjoy!

Ingredients:
2 cups of Chex
1 1/2 cups of stick pretzels
1 cup of cheddar bunny crackers
1 cup of spring M&M's
1 cup of bunny animal cookies
1 cup yogurt raisins

Directions:
Mix ingredients in a bowl and serve!

This recipe makes a large bowl of snack mix. You can either serve it at a party or keep it in a sealed freezer bag and use it as needed.

Easter Bunny Juice Boxes

Last weekend, we put up all of the Easter decoration in our house. At three years old, AG gets really excited about the holidays. Her excitement makes them just that much more fun. The one thing she doesn't quite understand yet is that they're just one day and they're gone as quickly as they're here. She still asks for Christmas decorations or Valentine's Day hearts. Thankfully, when one holiday passes, there is another around the corner.

I thought it would be fun to kick off the Easter holiday with a little bunny breakfast to get AG excited about the upcoming holiday before we took out all of the decorations. One of the decorations I put together for the breakfast was little bunny juice boxes. They took less than 5 minutes to make and AG absolutely loved them. I think they're pretty cute too! Now, everyday she asks for a bunny juice box.

Materials:
1 white pom pom for the tail
1 colored pom pom for the nose
2 pipe cleaners
2 eyes
1 sheet of pink cardstock
1 sheet of white cardstock
juice box
black marker/ pen

Directions:
1. Remove the straw from the back of the box.
2. Measure the height of the juice box on the white paper. I measured each side of the juice box across the length of the paper and cut it out. You want it long enough to wrap around the entire box.
3. I hot glued white paper with a thin line of glue around the juice box. Make sure there isn't excess paper at the bottom, or else the juice box won't stand up.
4. Once the paper is on and the juice box in white, glue the white pom pom to the back to make a tail.
5. Next, cut the pipe cleaners to make 6 pieces. You can make these as small or as big as you'd like. When glueing the pipe cleaners, I put a small dot in the center of the juice box and attached the pipe cleaners. Do this for all 6.
6. Once pipe cleaners are attached, glue the colored pom pom on top to make the nose.
7. Next, glue on the eyes.
8. Now it's time to make the ears! I just winged it for these. I used the leftover white paper to make the ears. Once the outside of the ear was cut to the size that worked for the box, I did the same with the pink paper inside.
9. I glued the pink paper to the white to make the ears. Next, I glued the bottom of the ears and attached them to the back of the juice box.

That's it! You're kids will think you're the best once you whip these out!

Valentine's Snack Mix

Now that we're into the new year, I've already started thinking about Valentine's Day. This year I'm planning on hosting a Valentine's Day playdate for a few of AG's friends.  When hosting playdates, I always make a snack mix for the kids.

Snack mixes are usually a big hit at our playdates.  Chances are there is usually a few things in the mix that all of the kids will eat, no matter how picky. Kids can also help to make the mix, which makes things even more fun (and messy!)  I make sure to have little cups or even the small waffle ice cream cones make things fun for serving and even more fun for the kids to eat!

If you're looking for little Valentine's Day gifts, you can also package the snack mix in a cute jar with a tag and you're good to gift. Lots of possibilities, just a few ingredients and some happy littles. Enjoy!

Ingredients:
Berry Kix
Stick Pretzels
Strawberry Goldfish
M&M's
Mini Marshmallows
Vanilla Chex Mix

Thanksgiving Treats

Last week I had a Thanksgiving feast in my classroom.  I've seen so many cute ideas for sweet treats on Pinterest, I decided to try a few.
*These are IPhone pictures, so not as good as they could be*

Acorns
Vanilla Wafers, Hershey Kisses, Butterscotch Morsel & a little frosting to hold it all together.

Pilgrim Hats
chocolate cookies, Rolos, frosting

Turkey Sugar Cookies
sugar cookies, candy corn, mini chocolate morsels, frosting

Not as perfect as the ones on Pinterest, but the kids and parents loved them!

Candy Trains

I make these every year with my students.  They are always a great hit and yet, so simple to make.  I usually pair it with hot chocolate and The Polar Express movie.

You'll Need:
1 roll of lifesavers
1 pack of gum
1 Hershey's kiss
1 caramel square
4 mint candies

Directions:
Hot glue the roll of lifesavers onto the gum (on top).
Glue the kiss on the "front" of the train and the caramel on the back.
Finish it off with the mint candies as wheels.
That's it!

Here's another variation I've also tried:

The bottom piece is gum, mints as wheels, a Starburst as the front and a chocolate candy directly behind the Starburst.

Flower Snacks

I don't have kids, but I enjoy making things with my students (my kids from 8-2). I often see bloggers looking for things to do with their kids on the weekends and over the summer. I loved to help my mom in the kitchen (from what I remember) when I was growing up. I've decided to add a "kids in the kitchen" label to my blog that will be devoted to fun snacks kids can create with food. This first one was done at the end of last year in my classroom. My students enjoyed it and they tasted good too!

Ingredients:
2 vanilla wafers
1 twizzler
2 spearmint leaves
6-8 pieces of candy corn
1 gumdrop
1 tbs. frosting

Directions:
1. On a plate, create flower with all ingredients.
2. Place frosting on one vanilla wafer.
3. Put candy corn on top of frosting around wafer to create flower.
4. Add more frosting to 2nd vanilla wafer and put over the candy corn.
5. Using a bit of frosting, "glue" gumdrop on the center of the wafer.
6. Place twizzler between 2 wafers as the stem.
7. Using a bit of frosting, "glue" leaves to the twizzler.
**We even added some crunchy chinese noodles as roots.
