Box of Sunshine Gift

Something I love to do is give gifts. I love making others happy and letting those closest to me know I'm thinking about them. Recently, I had a close friend who had been on my mind day in and out. She had been going through a tough time and I wished over and over I lived closer to be able to bring her a cup of coffee and some sweet treats. And a big hug too!

I decided that even though I wasn't close enough to hand deliver something, I could do the next best thing and send a thinking of you gift. I've seen these sweet boxes of sunshine on Pinterest and decided that would make the perfect gift. A bright and colorful gift to bring a smile to her face and let her know I was thinking of her.

While I was out and about at Target and the grocery store, I picked up all things yellow. Everything that I could find that I thought would ship well and bring a little joy. After I did my shopping, I put everything in a box and made a printable to go with the gift.

I packaged everything up and sent the love on it's way. Below you'll find the free printable along with the items I included in the box along with some more ideas of things you could include. Enjoy!

Hand Picked- Teacher Appreciation Gift

Teacher appreciation week is here for lots of teachers.

Have you picked out the gifts your child's teacher is receiving?

I'm a little ahead of the game this year since AG's teacher appreciation week isn't for a few more weeks. I wanted to create a few little gifts I could give throughout the week and then a nice gift card for the end of the week.

One of the gifts I'll be sending to school with AG is hand soap with these little tags.

Teachers can never have enough hand soap. It was always something I had on my classroom wish list when I was a teacher. I love the fresh scents of Bath & Body Works soaps, which is what I'll be using for the gifts.

I created 4 different colored printables for you to download for free. All you have to do is print them out on cardstock, punch a hole through the corner and tie the tag onto the soap.

Date Night In- Jar

2016 updated date night jar

One of the goals hubs and I set for the year was to have date nights in.  With a baby, getting out of the house for a date is not as easy as it used to be.  So, we decided we would try to do two date nights in a month.  He would plan one and I would plan the other.  For Valentine's Day, I'm giving him this jar filled with ideas for our date nights.  It's easy for me to come up with things to do but not as easy for him.  Now, he'll have a whole bunch of ideas at his fingertips!

All I used for this project was the printables below, a glass jar, ribbon, crinkle paper and card stock in red and white.

I printed the ideas for date night on white cardstock.
I made a red tag that was 3 1/2 inches on my Cricut.

Then, I printed out the date night in sign.  I made sure it was no bigger than 3 inches.

I used this handy dandy puncher to round the edges.

My tag for the jar was complete!

Next, I cut out all the date night ideas.  I included blank ones on the printable and decided to put the blank ones in the jar.  That way hubs can fill in some ideas that he thinks of along the way.
Once they were all cut out, I put them in the jar on top of some crinkle paper.
I added the crinkle paper to help fill the jar.  I wanted to use a mason jar but didn't have one in my stash.
You can use any embellishments or fillers you'd like.

Last, I used some thin red ribbon to attach the tag.  I made sure it hung on the front of the jar.
Simple as that.
Hopefully this will prevent the "what do you want to do?", "I don't know, what do YOU want to do?" conversations!

I think the date ideas are pretty self explanatory.  But if you have any questions, don't hesitate to ask!

Valentine's for Him & Free Printable

Valentine's Day is just around the corner.
Like usual, I've waited until last minute to make a gift for the husband.
I love making him baskets filled with goodies.
Since we don't do big gifts for Valentine's Day, a basket of little gifts is the perfect way to go.
It shows him how much I love him and satisfies his sweet tooth at the same time.
I can't wait to give it to him on Thursday.

You can download the printable tags here.
If you have trouble downloading them, comment with your email and I will send the PDF to you.

Here are some of my other gifts I've made for hubs:

DIY Post It Holders

I remember seeing this little gift a while back on Pinterest.  I had them on my to make list for over 6 months!  I even bought he materials to make them months ago, I just ran out of time or another project took precedence.  Last month, I had a few gifts that I wanted to add a personal touch to.  I remembered this project and being that both recipients are teachers, I thought this would be a great addition to their gifts.  They are so easy to make and come out super cute.  These would be a great teacher appreciation gift or gift for a coworker.  We all use post its, this is a cute way to display them.  Enjoy!

Materials:
Clear Frame (about $1-2 at Walmart or Target)
Scrapbook Paper
Post Its
Hot Glue
Stickers
Ribbon
Any other embellishments you would like to use

Directions:
Cut the paper to the size of the frame.
Put it in the frame.
Hot glue the post it notes to the frame.
I glued mine towards the bottom so that I could decorate the top more.
From there, just decorate.  I used hot glue to glue ribbon to the top and glued stickers on top of them.
You can decorate them however you would like.

*After the post its run out, the recipient just has to hot glue another pad onto the back*

30th Birthday Gift for Him

August 1st was my husbands 30th birthday.  I wanted to throw him a big party but I was 38 weeks pregnant and wanted to keep our house clean before the baby arrives.  So, in order to make it a special birthday for him I decided to give him a present a day for 30 days leading up to his birthday.  I started shopping months ago for gifts.  Each morning (as long as I was awake) I gave him a gift with a note attached to it.  Each note started with "I love you because...".  I plan on making all the love notes into a book for him.  We ended the month of celebrations with a night out with his friends. I think hubs enjoyed his birthday month and all of his gifts.  But, I know his best present of all is going to be arriving this Friday, 10 days late.

Happy 30th Love!

The gifts were small and big.
Gift Ideas:
gift certificates (car wash, coffee, movies, i tunes)
polo shirt
ties
socks
phone armband
USF football gear
coffee cups & coffee (we'll have a newborn soon)
favorites (candy, gum, snacks, beer)
running shoes

Wipes Case Band

I've had this tutorial pinned for about a year now.  I knew as soon as we had a little one on the way, it was something I wanted to make.  I don't have a wipes warmer for the nursery.  I plan on using a regular wipes case and refilling it when it runs out.  Of course, I want the case to match the nursery. So, I decided on a grey case with pink fabric flowers attached.  I was very pleased with how easy this was to make.  It looks fabulous in the nursery and is soo much better then the normal case.

So, head on over to Less Cake More Frosting for the tutorial. And if you're looking for fabric flower tutorials, I found a similar one here.
PS.  I just hot glued the flowers onto the case, no sewing involved!

Baby Shower Hostess Gift

I know my friends and family worked very hard on planning my baby shower.  I wanted to get them a small gift to show my appreciation.  I was inspired by a pin on pinterest using Bath & Body Works fresh picked scents.  I gave each one of my friends a hand soap, hand sanitizer, small body lotion and a cute matching note pad that I found at Michaels.  I also found these cute bags at Michaels as well.  To finish them off, I made the round tags myself using Print Shop.
That's it.  A simple and inexpensive gift that best my girls loved.

Daddy Survival Kit & Hospital Survival Kit

I wanted to do something special for hubs for Father's Day this year.  Since we're less than 8 weeks away from the birth of our baby girl, I decided to make survival kits for him.  I decided on two, one for the hospital and another for home.  The hospital one is filled with all his favorite candy, soda and snacks.  The Daddy Survival Kit is more meaningful with specific items and sayings to go with (sayings can be found below).  I also bought him the diaper bag that he wanted.  He was completely surprised and loved all his gifts.  Now the challenge will be not eating all the candy before we head to the hospital!

Father's Day Grandpa Frame

Thanks so Pinterest, I found a really cute Grandpa saying/quote that I wanted to use for Father's Day.  It was on a home made card, but I thought it would be perfect on a frame for my dad.

I started out with a plain wood frame.  I found it for $1 at Michaels.  From there I found one piece of scrapbook paper that I thought would match his office.

First, I painted the back of the wood frame and sides brown.  I used an acrylic paint.

Once the paint was dry, I traced the frame onto the scrapbook paper.  I did the outside first and then the middle.

After that, I used Mod Podge to adhere the scrapbook paper to the frame.  One thin coat is all I used on the wood.  Use something stiff to run over the scrapbook paper to make sure there aren't any bumps in the paper from the Mod Podge.

Next, seal the frame with Mod Podge.  Make sure to cover the sides, front and back of the frame.

I used 1 coat on the entire thing before I put the letters on.

The last step is the letters.  You can use stickers, a paint pen or paper.  I used my Cricut to cut cardstock paper letters.  Line up the letters to make sure everything fits.  My letters were an inch on the top and 1.25 inches for Grandpa.  In order to adhere the letters to the frame, you'll need more Mod Podge.

Paint a thin coat ontop of the scrap paper (again) and place the letters on.  Make sure they are straight and lined up in the right place.  Do this for all the letters/ saying.  Let dry.

Finally, put another coat of Mod Podge over the entire frame and let it dry.

Give your gift to a very deserving grandpa!

End of the Year Gifts

Summer is here! Well, as of 12:00 tomorrow it is.  It's been another great year in the classroom, but I'm ready for the summer and for my little one to make her arrival in August.
I wanted something cute and easy for gifts for my students and homeroom parents.  Of course, I turned to Pinterest for a little pinspiration.  Here are a few things I came up with based on some neat things I found.
Happy Summer!!

Since our classroom theme this year was All Stars, I decided on this little gift for my students.

These cups and goodies were part of the gift for my homeroom moms.
